About

Howdy! We’re Resting Point Farms, a small heritage and mushroom farm on the edge of Asheville in Western North Carolina, nestled in Blue Ridge Mountains. We offer mushroom cultivation classes, and supplies so you can grow your own mushrooms at home.

We’re a small group of permaculture farmers banding together to care for the land that’s been in the family for 20 years. Our core group consists of Jesse and Denean “Sweet Dee”, partners in farming and life. They poured every ounce of themselves into starting-up the farm. Plus, Kela, visionary mentor (and Jesse’s mom!), and our tight-knit group of volunteers keep us running.

Our farm may be young, but we’re advancing quickly. We host community classes year-round. We host a farm residency program to provide affordable housing; if residents volunteer their time to farm chores, their rental cost can be reduced up to 50% per month. We donate multicolored eggs to our neighbors and local community. We create educational models for reducing waste streams and help our community grow many, many mushrooms at their homes. We steward the land, creek, and forest. We believe we can all live this close to the land and grow our own food in a simple way. Like Kela says, “keep it simple, keep it pure.”

If you’re wanting to read more about us, click here to check out our spotlight in Fifth Season Gardening’s blog.

If you’d like to support the growth of the farm, please donate here.

Donate Here!

As a very young, self-starting farm, we’re in need of donations. Imagine how you would like us to use your donation, and click the “Donate Here” mushroom log below.

Feel free to let us know how to use your donation funds. For instance “purchase next season’s PPE equipment”, or “pay a farmer to plant an endangered or near threatened tree species, such as the Eastern Hemlock”. You may also simply select which farm program you would like to support.

Give to our small group, we’re making a difference!

We’re still “green” in our timeline. We’re able to produce enough for our farmer-residents to glean, and also donate eggs and farm baskets (half produce/apothecary items, half education/cultivation materials) to neighbors, and one family in need per season.

If you’re a new farmer in need of space to grow, would like to become a volunteer or intern, or donate expertise, please fill out this form, and give a short letter of intent.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to us! We’re active today because our community of supporters is shouldering our efforts.

“Keep it simple, keep it pure.”
